GET THE REST YOU NEED

Sleep is essential - It is as important to our bodies as eating, drinking and breathing, and is vital for maintaining good mental and physical health. Sleeping helps us to recover from mental as well as physical exertion.

Sleep and health are strongly related - poor sleep can increase the risk of having poor health, and poor health can make it harder to sleep.  Sleep disturbances can be one of the first signs of distress. Common health problems like anxiety and depression can often underpin sleep problems.

Reflexology and massage can help sleep issues. Reflexology has always been considered to be a particularly relaxing and pleasant therapy as well as being very therapeutic in supporting specific conditions. We  specialise in techniques to bring about a deep relaxing night’s sleep or to help counteract insomnia issues.

Massage may help improve sleep in two primary ways. The first is by alleviating stress. Massage reduces stress by decreasing cortisol and increasing serotonin and dopamine -neurotransmitters that help to stabilize mood. Using massage to decrease stress and to promote relaxation may help you sleep better.

The other way that massage may help with sleep is by managing pain and tension caused by stress or injury. Pain and sleep loss can exacerbate one another, leading to a vicious cycle. A lack of sleep can worsen pain, while pain itself can make it difficult to find a comfortable enough position to fall asleep. Successful treatment of pain may improve sleep. Massage therapy has been shown to be helpful in managing various types of pain.
